Applying For Aid

Step One:

Apply to The North Coast College. (We can only offer financial aid awards to accepted students who qualify).

Your FSA ID is needed to electronically sign your FAFSA. If you are a dependent student, your parents will also need to apply for an FSA ID.

Apply for scholarships (applications and websites available upon request).

Step Three:

Apply for your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please include The North Coast College federal school code (012896) so that we will receive a copy of your Student Aid Report to determine financial aid eligibility.

Step Four:

The North Coast college typically receives your FAFSA results and information within three business days after completion. The Financial Aid Office will review your FAFSA results, aid eligibility, and scholarship application (if applicable) to determine your financial aid offer. Your admission counselor will reach out to you to discuss the completed offer when available. We will meet with you to review your aid eligibility, discuss loan options and repayment amounts, complete verification (if required), and sign required documents.

Step Five:

  • Award Letters are issued only after your financial aid is packaged.
  • Award Letters show all approved aid for a specific enrollment period, which includes dates the aid is expected to be received by the college.
  •  The Award Letter does not inform the student of any payments due to the college that is the result of expenses in excess of financial aid awards, nor does the Award Letter inform the students of any stipends (Aid in excess of expenses).
  • Tuition payments and stipends are estimated during the financial aid appointment and are confirmed only after registration and upon billing from the student accounts department.

Note: Students are required to sign Award Letters and return to the financial aid office.

Step Six:

Financial aid funds are processed and applied to the students’ account after the Award Letter has been signed by the student and returned to the financial aid office. The expected dates shown on the Award Letter may be different than the actual date the funds are received due to processing. The students’ ledger will show the exact date the funds were received and applied.

Students now have the option to split their tuition into monthly payments. Students must request the payment plan on a semester basis, otherwise, tuition will be due in full.

Entrance and Exit Counseling:

(Necessary for all federal student loan borrowers)

  • Entrance Counseling takes place during the initial financial aid appointment. During the Entrance Counseling, the financial aid officer will discuss loan eligibility, interest rates, payment period, and estimated total loan debt and monthly repayment upon graduation. Students complete their Entrance Counseling online at studentloans.gov online after meeting with financial aid. All MPNs must be signed before the first day of class.
  • Exit Counseling takes place each time a student stops attending The North Coast College. This includes withdrawals, taking a term off, and or graduation. Students may have multiple Exit Counseling sessions before graduation. During the Exit session, the financial aid officer makes an appointment with the student to discuss total loans borrowed, calculate estimated monthly loan repayments, and provide the student with a personalized Exit Document containing their Lender(s) names and number.
Students who do not complete an Exit with one of our financial aid officers will receive their Exit packet via email and mailed through the U.S. Postal service upon request.  You can complete Exit Counseling at studentloans.gov.
