The North Coast College has received federal funding from the CARES Act, which provides assistance for student expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The North Coast College acknowledges that the Institution has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the Institution has used the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

The College also acknowledges that the Institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

What is the CARES ACT

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act is federal legislation that provides a variety of financial support to individuals and organizations affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis.

The CARES Act includes a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) that provides more than $14 billion in emergency funding to higher education.  Of those funds, more than $6 billion must go directly to students in the form of emergency financial aid grants (HEERF-student share) for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis.

For HEERF I, Allocations for Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act, The North Coast College has received a total amount of $140,180.  Fifty Percent (50%) of this amount ($70,090) will be allocated as Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students for their expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  These expenses include food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child-care.  Any unused funds as of December 27, 2020 may be applied to outstanding tuition and fees from students’ eligible cost of attendance.

For HEERF II, Allocations for Proprietary Institutions under CRRSAA Section 314(a)(4), The North Coast College has received a total amount of $84,979.  This will be utilized as grants to students for eligible cost of attendance.

For HEERF III, Allocations for Proprietary Institutions under ARP Section 2003(a)(4), The North Coast College has also received a total amount of $44,999.  This will be utilized as grants to students for eligible cost of attendance.

Am I eligible?

For HEERF I, currently enrolled students that are enrolled in eligible Title IV non-exclusively distance education programs that experienced interruptions to their education at NCC due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis are awarded amounts based on data provided by FAFSA.  Funding is awarded on a first come first serve basis.  If eligibility is not fulfilled according to calculated allocations, it is because students may have demonstrated less need on FAFSA or funds have been exhausted.

For HEERF II, currently enrolled students that are enrolled in an eligible Title IV program that experienced interruptions to their education at NCC due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis are awarded amounts based on data provided by FAFSA.  Funding is awarded based on most neediest to least neediest and a first come first service basis.  Pell Grant recipients will be prioritized before non-Pell recipients.  Students in traditional On Campus Programs will be prioritized before students in exclusively Distance Education Programs.  Full time students will be prioritized before part time students and Pell recipients will be prioritized before non-Pell recipients.  So, conclusively, Pell Grant eligible students in Full Time traditional On Campus Programs will be given priority in awarding on a first come first serve basis.

For HEERF III, currently enrolled students that are enrolled in an eligible Title IV program that experienced interruptions to their education at NCC due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis are awarded amounts based on data provided by FAFSA.
